Women’s Basketball Team Wins Second Straight Road Game

JONESBORO, Ark. - The Texas State women's basketball team (10-14, 3-10 Sun Belt) scored a season-high 83 points and had four players score in double figures when the Bobcats defeated Arkansas State 83-69 at the First National Bank Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Da'Nasia Hood scored a game-high 21 points, and Brooke Holle recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
Jayla Johnson added 15 points, and Jaeda Reed netted 12 for the Bobcats. Kennedy Taylor handed out a game-high 11 assists.
 
Jireh Washington led Arkansas State (9-15,6-7 Sun Belt) with 15 points, and Shameka Tubbs added 14 points.
 
KEY MOMENTS
Texas State jumped out to a 10-2 lead to open the game and ended the first quarter with a 27-19 lead.
 
Da'Nasia Hood scored 10 of her game-high 21 points in the first quarter to lead the Bobcats.
 
After Arkansas State began the second quarter with an 8-4 run, Texas State came back with a 9-4 run of its own and opened a 40-31 lead.
 
Brooke Holle hit a three-point shot to highlight a 7-0 that helped the Bobcats open a 47-39 lead at halftime.
 
Texas State opened the second half much like they began the game when they started the third quarter with a 10-3 run.

NOTABLES
Jayla Johnson's 15 points are her highest point-total against a Sun Belt Conference opponent and the seventh game in which she has scored in double figures this season.
 
Brooke Holle recorded a double-double for the third time against a Sun Belt opponent with 15 points and 11 rebounds at Arkansas State.
 
Da'Nasia Hood's 21 points at Arkansas State came after she led Texas State with 17 points at Little Rock. Hood scored 31 points in two straight halves after she netted 15 second-half points at Little Rock and 16 points in the first half at Arkansas State.
 
Jaeda Reed scored 12 points at Arkansas State, and that is the most points she has scored in a game since she tallied 12 points at Oral Roberts on Nov. 8.
 
Kennedy Taylor registered 11 assists to mark the third time this season she has dished out 10 or more.
