SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State softball team (6-2) hit five home runs and powered its way to a pair of victories on the third day of the Bobcat Classic. Texas State began the day with four home runs in a 12-0 victory over Saint Louis (2-5) and added another home run to break a 3-3 tie against Wichita State (5-4) in the second game.
Meagan King (2-1) pitched a five-inning shutout in the first game, and freshman pitcher
Tori McCann (3-1) won her third straight decision in the Bobcat Classic for the Bobcats in the second contest.

Game 1
ArieAnn Bell put the Bobcats on the scoreboard with a home run to left field in the second inning. Then, the Bobcats exploded for 11 runs in the third inning as Texas State hit three home runs in the inning.

Cat Crenek led off the inning with a homer to right field. The Bobcats scored again on the basepaths as
Tara Oltmann stole second and, on the throw,
Christiana McDowell came home from third for the double steal. Oltmann came home when
Hailey MacKay reached first on an error by the right fielder. Then, McCann hit a three-run homer to break the game open. After the Bobcats loaded the bases again, Oltmann hit a grand slam home run to left-center.

The game ended after five innings with King picking up her second win of the season.

Game 2
Texas State came back to win their second game of the day and fourth win in the Bobcat Classic. The Bobcats scored their first run in the bottom of the first inning when
Bailee Carter singled through the right side and scored on MacKay's single through the middle of the infield.

Carter scored again in the third inning after she singled up the middle and stole second. She advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher and came home on Oltmann's sacrifice fly to centerfield.

Texas State scored another run in the fifth inning when McDowell hit a double to centerfield. She advanced to third on a wild pitch and came home when the catcher didn't field the ball cleanly.

Wichita State came back to tie the score in the top of the sixth inning when the Shockers scored three runs on walks. Ryleigh Buck led off the inning with a single to shortstop. Then, Madison Perrigan doubled down the left-field line. After Bailey Urban walked to load the bases, Bobcat starting pitcher Tara McMann struck out pinch hitter Lauren Mills. But she walked Bailee Nickerson to force in a run. Adi Reese came in as a pinch hitter and drew a second walk. The final run came in on a walk to Wylie Glover.

Texas State came back in the bottom of the sixth inning when
ArieAnn Bell hit a home run to right field. After
Sara Vanderford singled down the right-field line,
Marisa Cruz came in as a pinch-runner for Vanderford. She advanced to third base on a bunt by
Caitlyn Rogers.
Cat Crenek came in a pinch-runner and stole second. On the throw, Cruz stole home to add an insurance run for the Bobcats.

UP NEXT
The two wins give Texas State four straight wins in the Bobcat Classic and improve its record to 6-2 overall this season. Texas State and Wichita State will play for a second time at noon on Sunday.
