SAN MARCOS, Texas– The Texas State women's tennis team opened its final road trip of the regular season with a 4-0 loss against Coastal Carolina Friday morning at the Stevens Center in Conway, S.C.

The Bobcats (6-12, 2-7 Sun Belt) fell behind early in the match when Coastal Carolina (14-7, 7-2 Sun Belt) clinched the doubles point.

On center court, the Bobcat duo of
Ana Perez and
Julia Navajo-Melendez dropped a 6-1 decision against Coastal Carolina's tandem of Somer Dalla-Bona and Jennifer Brown.

On court No. 3, the pairing of
Andrea Fuchs and
Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez suffered a 6-3 setback against the team of Alexa Tiefel and Alicja Zduniak.

Meanwhile, Texas State's combination of
Rishona Israel-Lewis and
Joy Chia Ming Ming were ahead 5-4 against Jessie Mount and Viktorija Demcenkova on court 2 when their match was halted after the Chanticleers clinched the doubles point. Â

The Bobcats were stymied in singles action as they dropped three straight completed matches. On court three, Navajo-Melendez fell 6-1, 6-1 against Dalla-Bona.

Chia Ming Ming battled Zduniak in a tight second set before dropping a 6-0, 6-4 decision. Coastal Carolina clinched the victory when Fuchs suffered a 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 5 match.

The three remaining matches were suspended after Coastal Carolina tallied the clinching fourth point.

Murcia-Rodriguez held a 1-0 lead in the third set after winning the second set 6-2 against Tiefel on court six. Perez was tied 5-5 in the second set against Demcenkova after narrowing dropping the first set 6-4 in the top-seeded match.

Texas State closes out the road trip on Sunday morning when they play Appalachian State at 9 a.m. in Boone, N.C.
