Bobcats fall to No. 11 Ragin’s Cajuns, 6-1

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State softball team (9-12) sputtered at the plate in a 6-1 loss to the No. 11 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (16-3) on Friday evening at Bobcat Softball Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Cajuns raced out to a five-run lead in their first three trips to the plate. Louisiana hit a solo home run in the first and a two-run shot in the second.
- Junior outfielder Christiana McDowell hit a solo home run down the left field line in the bottom of the third inning to get the Bobcats on the scoreboard.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Bobcats scattered four hits throughout the seven innings of play. Three hits came via McDowell (3-for-3), while sophomore infielder ArieAnn Bell collected the fourth hit for Texas State.
- Sophomore pitcher Meagan King (4-8) was tagged with the loss after giving up four earned runs (five runs total) in 2.1 innings of work. She allowed five hits and a pair of walks.
- Outside of the home run, Texas State failed to place a base runner on third as the Cats finished the contest 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. As a unit, TXST was 0-for-11 with runners on base.

NOTABLES
- The home run for McDowell marked her third of the season, her highest single-season output since also hitting three in her debut season as a Bobcat.
- McDowell tallied her 10th multi-hit game of the season, the most among Bobcat hitters. She has four games of three-plus hits this season.
- Senior pitcher Krista Jacobs has logged 23.2 innings of work throughout the 2019 campaign after tossing 4.2 innings against Louisiana. Her usage marks a career-high for innings pitched in a season.

THOUGHTS FROM THE DUGOUT
"We have to execute better," head coach Ricci Woodard said. "We need to be able to execute our pitches and hit our locations. We need to execute at the plate and follow the game plan."

- The Bobcats and Cajuns play game two of a three-game weekend series on March 9. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Bobcat Softball Stadium.
