Texas State Women’s Tennis Drops 4-2 Decision at Georgia State

Clarkston, Ga. – After jumping out to an early lead the Texas State women's tennis team could not hold on when the Bobcats dropped a 4-2 decision at Georgia State Saturday at the Clarkston Tennis Courts.
 
Texas State won the doubles point when Ana Perez and Julia Navajo-Melendez defeated Daniela Ramirez and Eva Chivu by a score of 6-4 at center court. The Bobcats also won the No. 3 match by forfeit when Georgia State only had five players available.
 
Sofia Murcia-Rodriguez also won the No. 6 singles match by forfeit to give the Bobcats a 2-0 advantage. However, Georgia State won four matches to clinch the victory.
 
Perez dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision against Chivu in the No. 1 singles match. Navajo-Melendez suffered a 6-4, 6-1 against Damira Muminovic on the No. 3 court to even the team score at 2-2.
 
The Bobcats lost the lead when Andrea Fuchs dropped a three-set decision against Anastasia Grosheva by a score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 on the No. 5 court.
 
The match ended when Rishona Israel-Lewis suffered another three-set loss  6-2, 2-6, 6-2 loss against Daniela Ramirez on court 2.
 
Texas State (5-9, 1-4 Sun Belt) will continue its road trip in Georgia on Sunday when the Bobcats play at Georgia Southern in Statesboro at 10 a.m.
