SAN MARCOS, Texas – The offense for the Texas State baseball team was stifled by Nevada Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Ballpark in a 4-0 loss in the Texas State Tournament.

With the setback, the Bobcats drop to 1-1 on the year while the Wolf Pack remain undefeated at 2-0.

Taking the loss on the mound was
Hunter McMahon (0-1). He went 5.0 innings in his TXST debut with four strikeouts but allowed three runs on four hits and four walks. Owen Sharts (1-0) threw seven shutouts innings and surrendered three hits to pick up the victory.

Nevada scored twice in the third inning on a Joshua Zamora single. Both runs were unearned after two Bobcat errors prior to the base hit. The Wolf Pack added another run in the fourth to extend their lead to 3-0.

Zamora hit a solo home run to lead off the seventh for the final run of the game.

Texas State was held to four hits and drew only one walk. Three of the base knocks were single with the lone extra base hit being a double from
Jaylen Hubbard with two outs in the ninth.
Dalton Shuffield went 2-for-4 and was the only TXST with multiple hits. Also recording a hit in the contest was
John Wuthrich.

Brayden Theriot tossed three innings with three strikeouts in relief. Pitching a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts was
Matthew Charles, who was making in collegiate debut.

TXST concludes its home tournament at 3 p.m. on Sunday against 24th-ranked Missouri State.
