LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Texas State softball team (3-3) split a pair of games against San Jose State (4-4) and New Mexico State (5-0) on Friday at the N.M. State Softball Complex. The Bobcats topped the Trojans by a score of 12-3 in six innings before falling to the Aggies by a final tally of 7-4.
GAME 1 – TXST 12, SJSU 3
KEY MOMENTS
- Sophomore infielder connected on two solo home runs, one in the bottom of the second and one in the bottom of the fourth.
- Junior infielder hammered a two-run home run to left center in the bottom of the second inning.

Hailey MacKay launched her second home run of the season into left field in the bottom of the fourth inning. She led the Bobcats with 12 home runs in the 2018 season.

Christiana McDowell capped off a 4-for-4 ballgame with a two-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning. The home run triggered the run-rule victory for the Bobcats.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Bobcat offense exploded for a season-high 12 runs on 15 hits.
- Eight of the nine TXST starters collected a hit and 10 of the 11 Bobcats to earn a plate appearance reached base successfully.
- Texas State swatted a season-high five home runs.

Dalilah Barrera (3-0) earned the victory for the Bobcats after going 6.0 innings, allowing two hits and one earned run. She struck out a season-best nine batters.
NOTABLES
- Barrera carried a no-hit bid into the fifth inning, the longest a Bobcat has gone without allowing a hit this season.
- Texas State scored at least one run in all six innings played, including multiple runs in four frames.
GAME 2 – NMSU 7, TXST 4
KEY MOMENTS
- The host Aggies jumped out to early 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. New Mexico State added a pair of insurance runs, one in the second and one in the fourth.
- Junior catcher
Haleigh Davis drove in a pair of runners in the top of the second inning with an RBI double to left center field. Davis would come around to score later in the inning on a stolen base play.
- Davis scored her second run of the ballgame when Carter drove her in on an RBI single to left field in the top of the fourth inning.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Three Bobcats collected multi-hit games. MacKay was 3-for-3 at the plate, Carter reached base in all three of her plate appearances and Davis was 2-for-3 at the dish.
- Texas State left nine runners on base, including six in the final three innings of play.
- Sophomore pitcher
Meagan King (0-3) took the loss for the Bobcats after pitching 6.0 innings and allowing 10 hits and six earned runs.
NOTABLES
- The four runs scored by the Bobcats represent the most runs the team has plated in a losing effort this season.
- New Mexico State tallied seven runs against the Bobcats, the most allowed by the Texas State defense through the first six games of the season.
ON DECK
- The Bobcats will play at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in games three and four of the Troy Cox Classic on Feb. 16 against Montana and Bradley.
