Hot Lady Bears Shooting Snaps Bobcats Four-Game Winning Streak

BALTIMORE, Md. – Behind red hot second and third quarters, Morgan State (4-7) snapped Texas State's four-game winning streak and downed the Bobcats 72-62 at Hill Field House on Wednesday afternoon in Baltimore.

Both senior guard Brooke Holle and sophomore forward Da'Nasia Hood tied for the TXST (6-3) team lead with 15 points. Holle also led the way with six rebounds and five steals. Junior guard Avionne Alexander dished out a career-best seven assists and senior guard Bailey Holle poured in a season-best 11 points.

The Bobcats began the game on a 7-0 run and concluded the first period leading, 15-7. Bailey Holle connected on a pair of treys midway through the period. TXST went up by nine points with 8:24 left in the second, its largest of the game. Morgan State closed the second quarter on a 22-8 run over the last eight minutes to lead 31-26 at the break.

Morgan State caught fire in the third quarter and shot 67% (8-for-12) from the floor and 80% (4-for-5) behind the arc. The Bobcats shot 50% (6-for-12) in the third, but MSU won the quarter, 22-18 and had a 53-44 advantage after the stanza.

Texas State attempted to comeback in the fourth quarter and Bailey Holle again was all over the floor. She scored five points in only 13 seconds and hit a three, intercepted a pass, and went coast-to-coast to score. TXST cut it to a four-point deficit of 64-60 with 2:43 left on sophomore guard Kennedy Taylor's layup. It was the closest the Bobcats got in the fourth as Morgan State pulled away at the free throw stripe.

For the game Texas State shot 42% (24-for-57) from the field, 33% (7-for-21) from downtown and 70% (7-10) at the charity stripe. MSU hit on 47% (23-for-49) of its shots, 63% (10-for-16) from deep and 64% (16-for-25) at the free throw line.
