Texas State earns series victory by claiming two-day battle with Lumberjacks

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State baseball team topped Stephen F. Austin 6-3 Sunday afternoon in a battle that stretched across two days at Bobcat Ballpark.

The Bobcats (5-4) led 2-1 after five innings Saturday night before the game was halted due to persistent rain showers in the area. The maroon and gold then came back today and outscored the Lumberjacks (0-9) 4-2 across the final four frames.

Junior Connor Reich (2-0) threw all 5.0 innings Saturday and earned the win on the mound. He allowed just one unearned run on no hits, while striking out six and walking two. Sophomore Zachary Leigh tossed the first 3.0 frames Sunday and gave up two unearned markers on three hits, while striking out two and walking one. Junior Brayden Theriot issued three walks in the ninth, but he did his job and kept the visitors off the scoreboard to earn his second save of the year.
