LAKE CHARLES, La. – A 2-under par 70 on Tuesday sealed a second place finish for
Logan Davis at the Golden Nugget Invitational while the Texas State men's golf team placed fifth at 10-over 874.
Davis carded six birdies on the day to pace the Bobcats with a 70. For the tournament, he recorded an 11-under par 205. His total shots and versus par score are the second best in program history dating back to 1993.
Both
Logan Lockwood and
Calvin Ross finished in a tied for 26
th at 6-over par 222. Ross shot a 75 (+3) Tuesday with three birdies while Lockwood posted four birdies on his way to a 76 (+4).
Posting a 75 as well was
Alvaro Carol Estrems. He finished the day with three birdies, two of which came on the front nine.
Taking home the team title was Louisiana at 14-under par 850, 12 strokes better than 39
th-ranked Marquette. Rounding out the top three was Stephen F. Austin at 6-over 870. Texas State finished three shots back of Lamar but were two strokes up on Missouri State.
Jack Tolson of the Ragin' Cajuns won the individual trophy with a 15-under 201. Davis finished three shots up on UL's Bjorn Gudjonsson.
Next up for Texas State is the Wyoming Cowboy Classic that takes place April 9-10 in Chandler, Arizona. It will be the final tournament for the Bobcats before the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
