SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State volleyball team earned a 3-0 triumph (25-19, 25-22, 25-20) over Appalachian State in a Sun Belt Conference match Friday night inside Strahan Arena.

The win allowed the Bobcats (17-5, 8-0 Sun Belt) to become the last remaining undefeated team in conference play after UTA knocked off Coastal Carolina in Arlington on Friday. TXST also recorded its 12th-straight victory, which marks the longest win streak since 2009. The Mountaineers dropped to 13-6 overall and 5-2 in the league.

Emily DeWalt's streak of seven-straight matches with a double-double came to an end, but the true freshman did manage to rack up a match-high 35 assists to go along with eight digs, six kills and two blocks. Junior
Cheyenne Huskey tallied a match-best 18 kills at a .455 hitting clip. Junior
Micah Dinwiddie led the back row with 12 digs, while sophomore
Brooke Johnson added 10 digs of her own. Senior
Halee Brewer also recorded a career-high five blocks.

App State senior setter Becky Porter entered the night leading the Sun Belt in assists at 10.94/set. She finished with just 12, marking her second-lowest total of the season. Jana Owens led the team with 20 assists, while Emma Reilly registered 10 digs. Emma Longley (12), Victoria Wilform (11) and Kara Spicer (10) all had double-digit kills.

The maroon and gold led in kills (44-41), attack percentage (.344-.191), assists (43-36), digs (47-34), and blocks (7-3). The Mountaineers led in aces (3-2).
SET 1
Texas State raced out to a 9-1 lead to start the night and never looked back, capturing the opening period 25-19. The visitors crawled back to within four at 15-11, but the Bobcats turned right back around with four-consecutive points to push the advantage back out to eight. TXST sat on set point for four rallies before finally closing out the frame by the six-point margin.

SET 2
The late push from Appalachian State at the end of the first set carried over into the second, as the Mountaineers were able to build an early 4-1 lead. Texas State battled back into a 7-7 tie and later scored seven points without reply to secure a 14-9 advantage. The visitors pushed back within two on seven separate occasions from that point on but could never find a way to get any closer as the maroon and gold closed out the period 25-22.

SET 3
Texas State ended proceedings by claiming the final stanza 25-20. The first swing of momentum went in favor of the Mountaineers as they opened the third with a 7-2 lead. The visitors remained ahead all the way until a 6-1 run from the Bobcats turned a two-point deficit into an 18-15 lead. The final result was academic from then on, as the home team scored six of the final nine points to close the book on the evening.

The Bobcats improved to 5-3 all-time against Appalachian State and have won three straight in the series.

Texas State is now set for a showdown with the Chanticleers at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 inside Strahan Arena. The two-time defending conference champions (6-8, 5-1) currently sit atop the Sun Belt East Division and are gunning for their third-straight regular season title.
