SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State volleyball team is set to trek to Waco, Texas, Sept. 15-16 to compete in the 2017 Jason's Deli Baylor Classic. The Bobcats will take on Baylor, UTSA and St. John's during the two-day event.
The contests will be the final non-league tuneups for the maroon and gold, who will begin Sun Belt Conference action Sept. 22.
This weekend's trip will mark the first time since 1973 that TXST will compete in a tournament in Waco. The last visit was a 4-0 sweep of the District Tournament, featuring triumphs over Our Lady of the Lake, Trinity, Baylor and Texas. TXST owns an 8-3 record so far this season and has won seven of its last eight matches.

AMERICA'S LONGEST-TENURED STAFF
•   The Texas State full-time coaching staff consists of head coach
Karen Chisum, associate head coach
Tracy Smith and assistant coach
Sean Huiet.
•   The trio has been at Texas State for a combined 66 years (38/16/12), a mark which is by far the highest in the nation for any coaching staff. The next closest is Texas A&M at just 52 years, while Penn State ranks third at 47 years.
•   For comparison's sake, the respective coaching staffs of this weekend's opponents of St. John's (46), UTSA (18) and Baylor (10) have only been at their schools for a combined 74 total years.
A LOOK AT TEXAS STATE
•   The Bobcats have the most wins, fewest losses and best win percentage of any team in the Sun Belt Conference. They are one of only two teams who currently sport a winning record (UTA, 5-4) in the league.
•   TXST presently leads the conference in four statistical categories, including opponent hitting percentage (.150), assists (12.86), kills (13.53) and digs (16.35).
•   Other than digs in 2013, Texas State has never finished a campaign leading the Sun Belt in a statistical category.
•   The maroon and gold became members of the SBC in 2013.
•   Texas State finished second in the SBC West Division last year and advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 SBC Championship.
•   TXST is 3-1 at home, 2-2 on neutral grounds and 3-0 in true road matches this season.
•   The Bobcats own eight non-conference victories this season, which is the most since 2013.
STREAK SNAPPERS
•   Over the last two outings, Texas State has put a stop to two long win streaks.
•   On Sept. 10, Texas State upended Houston Baptist 3-0. The Huskies entered the contest with an unblemished 7-0 mark before being dispatched of by the Bobcats.
•   On Sept. 12, the maroon and gold knocked off Stephen F. Austin 3-1 in Nacogdoches. The Lady Jacks were riding an 11-match win streak, which led the nation at the time. SFA also had its 11-match home win streak stifled.
A LOOK AT BAYLOR
•   Baylor will bring a 7-3 record into its home tournament.
•   BU is the No. 28-ranked team in the nation, as the team received 31 votes in the most-recent AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll.
•   The Bears have defeated Rice, Illinois State, UC Santa Barbara, Washington State, Quinnipiac, Nevada, BYU and LSU.
•   They have lost to Florida State, College of Charleston and Hawai'i.
•   BU is 3-1 at home.
•   Texas State leads the all-time series 28-16-2, but the Bears have taken 10 of the last 11 meetings dating back to 2001.
•   TXST's last victory against Baylor in Waco came on Sept. 14. 1990.
A LOOK AT UTSA
•   UTSA enters the Baylor Tournament with a deceptive 0-8 record this season. The Roadrunners have yet to secure a victory, but they have faced a treacherous slate that features Coastal Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Minnesota, West Virginia, Texas State and SMU.
•   They have taken at least one set in each of their last four outings, including a 3-2 loss to TXST after jumping ahead 2-0.
•   UTSA is 0-4 competing on a neutral court in 2017. Â
•   Texas State leads the all-time series 56-13 and will be looking for the season sweep.
A LOOK AT ST. JOHN'S
•   The Red Storm enters the weeknd with a 7-4 ledger, which includes quality victories over Holy Cross, Albany, Valparaiso and Binghamton.
•   St. John's makes quick work of its opponents, as six of its seven wins have been by 3-0 margins.
•   To contrast, three of the team's four setbacks have also been 3-0.
•   The Red Storm is 3-1 on neutral grounds this season.
•   Texas State and SJU have never met.
CHISUM REACHES WIN NO. 850
•   With a decisive 3-0 triumph over previously undefeated Houston Baptist on Sept. 9, Coach Chisum reached win No. 850 for her career.
•   She is one of only five active coaches with at least 850 career victories, and she is one of just 11 coaches in the history of NCAA Division I women's volleyball to reach the illustrious mark.
THE LAST TIME OUT
•   Texas State halted the nation's longest winning streak with a 3-1 (25-15, 15-25, 25-20, 25-18) victory over Stephen F. Austin Tuesday night.
 •   The match was contested inside Russell Gymnasium on the campus of Central Heights High School. The Bobcats and Lady Jacks were originally slated to meet inside the home of SFA volleyball – Shelton Gym – but a transformer blew 20 minutes prior to first serve and knocked out power to the entire campus. The event was moved outside of town to the local high school and start time was delayed by one hour.
 •   TXST snapped SFA's 11-match win streak. The Lady Jacks had also won 11-consecutive at home dating back to last season.

Megan Porter again shined following a 16-dig, 13-kill performance.
Jaliyah Bolden threw down a match-high 15 kills, while
Madison Daigle added 11 of her own.
Erin Hoppe contributed 29 assists, while
Brooke Johnson earned 21 assists and 10 digs. The duo of
Micah Dinwiddie (13) and
Mattie Adams (10) also posted double-digit digs.
 •   The Bobcats led the night in kills (58-39), attack percentage (.223-.178), assists (56-37), aces (6-4), and digs (65-44). SFA led in blocks (6-5).

DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINES
•   Four different members of the maroon and gold have recorded at least one double-double this season.
•  Â
Megan Porter - who entered her sophomore campaign with one double-double on her resume - has tallied five this season. She has reached double-figure kills and digs against Cincinnati, Sam Houston State, UTSA, SMU, and Stephen F. Austin.
•   Newcomer
Amy Pflughaupt has posted at least 10 kills/digs against Cincinnati, Sam Houston State, and SMU.
•   Freshman
Brooke Johnson owns a trio of double-doubles in assists and digs against SMU, Houston Baptist and Stephen F. Austin.
•   Junior
Madison Daigle recorded career highs in both kills (16) and blocks (10) against UTSA.

BOBCATS CLAIM SECOND IN OHIO
•   Texas State posted a 2-1 record in the Xavier Tournament Sept. 1-2 to tie for first place at the event.
•   Western Michigan won the title due to owning the tiebreaker following a 3-1 win over TXST in the opener.
•   The Bobcats defeated Cincinnati (3-2) and host Xavier (3-0).
•   The trio of matches were the first in school history against each respective opponent.
