SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State volleyball team is set to rekindle an old Southland Conference rivalry when the maroon and gold heads to Nacogdoches, Texas, for a 6:30 p.m. bout Sept. 12 against Stephen F. Austin.
This will be Texas State's first trip to Nacogdoches since a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-20, 25-14) on Oct. 13, 2011. The Lady Jacks are currently rolling to the tune of an NCAA-best 11-match win streak both overall and at home.
TXST owns a 7-3 record so far this season and has won six of its last seven matches. The Bobcats finished second at their home tournament this past weekend, earning wins over UTSA, UMass Lowell and previously-undefeated Houston Baptist. The lone setback was a 16-14 fifth-set loss to SMU.

LONGEST-TENURED STAFF IN AMERICA
•   The Texas State full-time coaching staff consists of head coach
Karen Chisum, associate head coach
Tracy Smith and assistant coach
Sean Huiet.
•   The trio has been at Texas State for a combined 66 years (38/16/12), a mark which is by far the highest in the nation for any coaching staff. The next closest is Texas A&M at just 52 years, while Penn State ranks third at 47 years.
•   For comparison's sake, the respective coaching staff of Stephen F. Austin has only been in Nacogdoches for 34 years.
A LOOK AT TEXAS STATE
•   The Bobcats currently have the most wins and the best win percentage of any team in the Sun Belt Conference. They are one of only two teams who currently sport a winning record (UTA, 5-4) in the league.
•   TXST presently leads the conference in four statistical categories, including opponent hitting percentage (.147), assists (12.74), kills (13.44) and digs (16.36).
•   Other than digs in 2013, Texas State has never finished a campaign leading the Sun Belt in a statistical category.
•   The maroon and gold became members of the SBC in 2013.
•   The Bobcats began the 2017 season with nine returning players and seven newcomers.
•   TXST posted a 21-12 record overall a year ago and a 13-3 mark in the Sun Belt Conference.
•   Texas State finished second in the SBC West Division last year and advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 SBC Championship.
•   TXST is 3-1 at home, 2-2 on neutral grounds and 2-0 in true road matches this season.
A LOOK AT STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
•   SFA (11-1) dropped its opener to Florida Atlantic by a 3-0 margin, but the Lady Jacks have been perfect ever since.
•   During the 11-match win streak, Stephen F. Austin has posted triumphs over prominent programs such as USF, Mississippi State, Tulane and Tulsa.
•   SFA went undefeated this past weekend to win its home tournament, the Holiday Inn Express SFA Invitational.
•   The Lady Jacks are currently in the midst of the best start to a season in program history.
•   Stephen F. Austin is perfect (4-0) at home this year and has won each of its 11 matches inside Shelton Gym dating back to last year.
•   Junior outside hitter Haley Coleman (offensive) and sophomore middle blocker Shayla Eagleton (defensive) swept the Southland Conference weekly awards on Sept. 4.
THE SERIES
•   TXST leads the all-time series over SFA with a 51-26-1 record. The Bobcats have also won each of the last nine tilts dating back to the 2007 season.
•   The first meeting between the two programs came in 1970, and Tuesday's contest will be the first in Nacogdoches since 2011.
•   SFA's last triumph came on Nov. 10, 2007 (30-28, 30-17, 30-27).
CHISUM REACHES WIN NO. 850
•   With a decisive 3-0 triumph over previously undefeated Houston Baptist on Sept. 9, Coach Chisum reached win No. 850 for her career.
•   She is one of only five active coaches with at least 850 career victories, and she is one of just 11 coaches in the history of NCAA Division I women's volleyball to reach the illustrious mark.
THE LAST TIME OUT
•   Texas State handed Houston Baptist its first loss of the season Saturday evening in the final match of the 2017 Creeds & Crests Classic inside Strahan Coliseum.
•   The Bobcats defeated the Huskies by a 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-22) margin to drop the visitors to 7-1 on the year.
•   The victory allowed TXST to finish second at its home tournament and send HBU down into third place. SMU claimed top honors after posting a 3-0 record. This marked the second straight runner-up effort for the maroon and gold after placing second at last week's Xavier Tournament.
•   Texas State swept both opponents Saturday after dispatching UMass Lowell by an efficient 3-0 score in the morning session.
•   In the triumph over the Huskies, the Bobcats were led by 10 kills each from
Jaliyah Bolden and
Madison Daigle. The duo also combined for seven blocks.
Brooke Johnson tallied her second double-double of the year with 17 assists and 17 digs.
Erin Hoppe added 14 assists, while
Megan Porter (16),
Amy Pflughaupt (11) and
Micah Dinwiddie (11) all ascended to double-figure digs.
•   TXST posted top marks in kills (43-35), hitting percentage (.163-.119), assists (40-32), aces (5-1), and digs (65-59). Houston Baptist had more blocks (11-7).
