SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State scored all five of its runs in its final at-bat to defeat McNeese 5-4 as the Bobcats clinched their third Wednesday-night walk-off in as many weeks.
Corrina Liscano played the walk-off role this time with a two RBI double down the left-field line to plate the winning runs.
The Bobcats, which improved to 32-10 with the win, scored its five runs on three hits.
Haleigh Davis opened the seventh with a bloop single to center and came home four pitches later on
Bailee Carter's triple to right center.
Kimberlin Naivar was then hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners and Christian McDowell followed with a sac fly to right, cutting the Cowgirl lead to 4-2 with one out.
Ariel Ortiz then walked and
Jaelyn Young reached on a run-scoring fielder's choice.
Taylor Webb followed with her team-leading 29th walk of the season to set the stage for Liscano's two-out frozen rope to left that fell just inside the line and three feet short of the warning track.
The Bobcats have now defeated Texas, Baylor and McNeese on consecutive Wednesdays in walk-off fashion.
Texas State out hit McNeese 8-5 with Liscano and Carter both going 2-for-3. The Cowgirls (30-15) were led by Justyce McClain's two singles.
Quincy Charleston (6-1) picked up the win in relief with 3.1 frames of one-hit, four-strikeout work.
Randi Rupp started and went 3.2 innings with six strikeouts, but allowed all four Cowgirl runs (three earned).
McNeese's Smith (12-7) gave up three runs in 2/3 of an inning to suffer the loss in the circle. Alexsandra Flores, who like Rupp did not factor into the decision, went six complete and left with a 4-1 lead and a runner on third in the seventh.
After sending the minimum to the plate through the first three innings, McNeese broke through for four runs on four hits along with a Bobcat error. McClain led off the inning with a bunt single and two batters late Erika Piancastelli singled through the left side to set the stage for Morgan Catron's two-RBI double down the left-field line. Catron then scored on Taylor Schmidt's double to left and Schmidt came around for the 4-0 lead on the TXST infield error.
Texas State loaded the bases in the fifth as Liscano,
Kennedy Cline and Carter all singled. However, McNeese's Flores escaped the jam and kept the Cowgirls in front 4-0 with a line out to short and a soft pop fly to second.
Texas State then left two runners on in the sixth before the five-run seventh that resulted in the Bobcats' first win of the season when trailing after six innings.
