Bobcats Host Vandals in CIT Second Round

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The CollegeInsider.com Tournament continues for the Texas State men's basketball team on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest in Strahan Coliseum against Idaho in the second round.
 
The Bobcats head into the game 21-13 on the season while the Vandals are 19-13 overall.
 
Live stats, audio and video will be available for the game with Bill Culhane and Brant Freeman calling the game on AM 1300 The Zone out of Austin and on KTSW 89.9 FM out of San Marcos. The game will also be streamed on Facebook Live through the main Texas State Athletics Page.
 
Last Time Out
Texas State earned its first ever postseason victory in the NCAA era with a 10-point win over Lamar. It was also the program's first postseason game since the 1997 NCAA Tournament.
 
Nijal Pearson led the all scorers in the game with 18 points, all coming in the second half. He made a career-high and tied the Bobcat season-high with five made three-pointers. The freshman also handed out a game-high five assists.
 
Kavin Gilder-Tilbury recorded his fourth double-double of his career and season with 14 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Nedeljko Prijovic nearly recorded a double-double as well with a career-high 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
 
Rejecting three shots was Immanuel King. He moved up to eighth on the program's single-season block list with 35.
 
Scouting Idaho
Idaho is coming off a 23-point win over Stephen F. Austin in the first round of the CIT. The Vandals have won six of their last seven games with the loss coming to North Dakota in the semifinals of the Big Sky Conference Tournament. On the road this season, Idaho is 6-9 and were 5-4 in conference play.
 
Victor Sanders enters the game ranked 11th in three-point field goal percentage (44.1), 20th in scoring (21.1) and 28th in made three-pointers (98). He has connected on 45.7 percent of his shots and 79.3 percent at the free throw line. The junior also leads the team in 53 steals and 3.3 assists per game.
 
Brayon Blake is the only other Idaho player averaging double-figures at 10.3 points per game on 43.5 percent shooting, 34.9 percent from beyond the arc and 70.5 perfect at the free throw line. He paces the squad with 6.1 rebounds per game.
 
Arkadiy Mkrtychyan enters leading the team in field goal percentage (52.1) on his way to scoring 8.1 ppg. The Turkmenistan native is grabbing 4.3 rpg and has blocked 10 shots.
 
Nate Sherwood paces the Vandals with 16 blocks and is second in rebounding (5.5). His brother Chad has seen 43 of his 60 made shots go in from beyond the arc.
 
All-Time Series
The all-time series between the two programs is tied 1-1 with the visiting team winning each meeting. Both contest came during the 2012-13 season when both teams were members of the Western Athletic Conference. Texas State won the first meeting 78-73 on Jan. 23, 2013 and the Vandals took the Mar. 2, 2013 contest 90-81.
