SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State head football coach
Everett Withers announced changes and reassignment of duties on his coaching staff for the 2017 season on Tuesday.
"With the completion of the 2017 signing day, it is always a time to reflect and try to improve your football program," Withers said. "One way is through staff changes and realignment. When you hire great coaches, you must understand that coaches will have opportunities to expand their career and move on.
"
Brett Elliott is no longer a member of our staff after taking a job at Mississippi State in the Southeastern Conference.
Parker Fleming will become the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. Newly hired Zak Kuhr will coach running backs and be the offensive coordinator with emphasis in the running game.
"
Ron Antoine will coach the wide receivers and
Adrian Mayes will move to tight ends and tackles coach. The final position that we are currently in the process of filling is at the offensive line, where several candidates have been interviewed and a hire is expected shortly. With
Troy Douglas not being retained,
Preston Mason and I will coach the safeties position."
Texas State begins its Spring Practice on March 22 and will play its annual Maroon-Gold Spring Game on April 15. The Bobcats kick off the 2017 season on Sept. 2, when the Bobcats host Houston Baptist on Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium.
