LAS VEGAS – Texas State softball defeated Colorado State 3-0 to conclude the 2017 DeMarini Desert Classic in Las Vegas.

The game against the Rams was added to the Bobcats' schedule due to inclement weather forcing the cancelation of Saturday's games against Idaho State and Weber State along with Sunday's scheduled game against Utah State.

Texas State (6-2) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third as Bobcats made the most of three Colorado State errors to score its runs.
Jaclyn Molenaar first reach on a fielding error, then came around to score on a second fielding error by the Ram shortstop on a double steal by the Bobcats.
Kimberlin Naivar added TXST's second run of the frame on the third Colorado State error.

Ariel Ortiz provided the 3-0 final with her solo home run to right field with one out in the sixth.

Randi Rupp (4-1) pitched 4.2 scoreless inning for the Bobcats, registering eight strikeouts and surrendering only two base hits.
Quincy Charleston pitched 0.1 inning in relief before giving way to
Jodi Paige Williams, who earned the save. Williams struck out three in her 2.0 innings of work.

Colorado State's Bridgette Hutton (1-3) suffered the loss despite limiting the Bobcats to two hits.
Â
Naivar and Ortiz both finished 1-for-3 for the Bobcats, while Cori Gamboa led the Rams at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort.

UP NEXT
Texas State next plays at the UTSA Softball Classic this coming Friday- Sunday (Feb. 24-26). The Bobcats are slated to play New Mexico (Feb. 24/12:30 p.m. and Feb. 26/10:00 a.m.), Incarnate Word (Feb. 25/12:30 p.m.) and the host Roadrunners (Feb. 25/5:30 p.m.).
