SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the final scheduled fall ball game of the 2017 campaign, the Texas State softball team fell to McLennan Community College, 5-1, on Tuesday night at Bobcat Softball Stadium.

The Bobcats were first to score, plating one in the bottom of the first inning. Jaclyn Molenaar led off with a single up the middle, but was later thrown out attempting to advance to third on a lined single to center from Kourtney Pock, who advanced to second on the throw. Taylor Webb stepped to the plate and delivered an RBI single to right field.

Krista Jacobs was the evening's starter in the circle for the Bobcats. She was crisp through the first two frames of the game, allowing just one hit and striking out a pair of batters without letting a ball leave the infield. She ran into some trouble in the third when she hit a couple of batters. Jacobs' second hit batsman of the game resulted in a run crossing for McLennan.

Jacobs was lifted with two outs in the top of the third inning with a final line of 2.2 innings pitched, three hits surrendered, one walk issued, a pair of strikeouts and one earned run allowed. McKenna Fryar was called upon to get the Bobcats out of a bases loaded jam. She answered with a big strike out to limit the damage to just one run. Unfortunately, things unraveled for her in the top of the sixth inning as she gave up three hits in the frame. The last hit drove in the go ahead run for McLennan.

Fryar was removed from the game in favor of Meagan King, who gave up a three-run home run to the first batter she faced. 5's line read 3.0+ innings pitched, three hits, three strikeouts, one walk and three earned runs crossed.

Molenaar continued her productive plate appearances from Saturday's double-header, going 1-2 with a walk and a stolen base. Mari Cranek was able to reach base in two of her three stops in the batter's box, also going 1-2 with a walk.

The Bobcats closed out the fall ball schedule with a 6-2 record. The only other blemish on the schedule came in a 4-2 loss to the Scrap Yard Dogs of the National Fast Pitch League. TXST will not be back in action again until the beginning of February when the team hosts the 2018 Bobcat Classic. Texas State will play two games against Sam Houston State and nationally ranked Florida State before finishing the weekend with a bout against Portland State. The tournament starts on Feb. 8 and will run through Feb 11.
