Men Against Breast Cancer Showcase Continues for Bobcats Against Golden Griffs

STOCKTON, Calif. – Coming off its second straight 17-point win, the Texas State men's basketball team takes on Canisius at 10:30 p.m. CT in the Alex G. Spanos Center. It is the second of three games this week for the Bobcats in the Men Against Breast Cancer Showcase.

TXST enters the game with a 2-2 record while the Golden Griffs are 1-3 on the season.

Fans can listen to the game on the radio on AM 1300 The Zone out of Austin and KTSW 89.9 FM out of San Marcos with Bill Culhane will be on the call. The contest will also be streamed through the iHeartRadio and TuenIn Radio app on mobile devices. There will be no video stream of the game.

Nijal Pearson leads the Bobcats in scoring (14.0), rebounding (7.5) and steals (4). The sophomore has knocked down 38.0 percent of his shots and 35.0 percent on three-point attempts.

Coming off his second double-digit scoring game in the last three contests is Tyler Blount. He is averaging 12.0 points per game with a 58.6 field goal percentage and a Sun Belt Conference leading 52.6 three-point percentage that ranks 44th in the nation.

Also putting up double-figures in points per contest is Immanuel King at 10.5 thanks to a team-high 63.6 shooting percentage. The Rocky Mount, North Carolina native has blocked a team-high five shots on the season and recorded a rejection in eight consecutive games.

Nedeljko Prijovic comes in averaging 7.0 rebounds per game. Off the bench, Alex Peacock is retrieving 5.0 rpg.

Scouting Canisius
Canisius is coming off a 60-52 loss on the road to Tennessee State on Tuesday. The Golden Griffs have also suffered losses to Air Force and Buffalo. Their lone win game at home to Youngstown State by the score of 104-84 that saw four players score at least 21 points.

Five players are averaging double-digits in points for Canisius led by Isaiah Reese at 18.3. He has made 52.1 percent of his shots, made a team-high 12 three-pointers and has converted all 11 of his free throw attempts. His 7.0 rpg and seven steals are the most on the squad.

Spencer Foley is putting up 13.5 ppg on a team-high 67.9 field goal percentage and 61.1 three-pointer percentage with 11 made treys. He has come off the bench in all four contests this season.

Jermaine Crumpton is averaging 13.0 ppg and is second with 4.3 rpg and three blocks. Takal Molson and Malik Johnson are contributing 12.8 and 11.0 ppg, respectively. Johnson's 5.5 apg pace the team with half of his total coming against the Penguins after finishing with a triple-double of 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

Canisius is scoring 77.5 ppg while shooting 48.9 percent from the field, 38.0 percent on long distance attempts and 73.1 percent at the free throw line. The Golden Griffs are grabbing 32.8 rpg, force 13.0 turnover per game, record 4.0 steals per game and block 3.8 shots per contest.

Friday will be the first-ever meeting between Texas State and Canisius. The Golden Griffs will be the third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference program that the Bobcats will face in program history. TXST has a 2-0 record against Manhattan and saw last season end to St. Peter's in the CIT quarterfinals.
