The Coaches
In addition to opening its 2016 season, the Bobcats open a new era when they play their first game under new head coach Everett Withers. Withers was named Texas State's 17th head coach on January 7, 2016, and enters the 2016 season with a 25-13 career record after serving the last two seasons at James Madison, where he was 18-7. He also guided North Carolina to a 7-6 mark as interim head coach in 2011.

Withers also was a co-defensive coordinator at Ohio State for two seasons, the defensive coordinator for the Tar Heels from 2008-11 and at Minnesota in 2007. He also served as a defensive backs coach with the Tennessee Titans from 2001-06 and at Texas in 1998-00.

Frank Solich is in his 12th season as head coach at Ohio and has a 138-80 career record after leading the Bobcats to 76 wins and seven bowl appearances in the last 10 years. Prior to taking over Ohio's program, Solich was the head coach for six seasons at Nebraska, where he was a two-time Big XII Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Huskers to a conference title in 1999 and an appearance in the 2001 BCS Championship game.
