LAFAYETTE, La. – A late inning rally in game two by No. 4 UL Lafayette lifted the Ragin' Cajuns to a Saturday sweep over the Texas State softball team in Lafayette, La. The Bobcats dropped game one by a score of 7-0 before falling in the second half of the doubleheader by a score of 5-2. The Bobcats fall to 23-14 overall and 4-7 in Sun Belt Conference play.

Game OneA single to centerfield by
Corrina Liscano in the top of the second inning marked the first Bobcat hit of the afternoon. Liscano made her way to second on a stolen base after
Jaelyn Young's at bat, but was ultimately stranded there was UL Lafayette retired the Bobcats in order.

The Ragin' Cajuns jumped ahead in the bottom of the second inning. With runners on second and third, the first Cajun run scored on a sacrifice fly to left field. On the next at bat, UL Lafayette took a 3-0 lead with a two-run home run to left.

UL Lafayette added runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings all in part to the long ball.

Texas State registered its other two hits in the top of the fourth inning.
Ariel Ortiz led the inning off with a line drive to centerfield before Young got on base with a single to left with two outs. The Cajuns kept the Bobcats from scoring by registering a strikeout with runners on second and third.

Randi Rupp (16-7) was dealt her seventh loss of the season in 4.1 innings of work for Texas State. She struck out five while allowing seven hits. In 1.2 innings of relief,
Paige Williams struck out one and allowed just one Cajun run.

Game TwoWith Williams earning the start in game two, the Bobcats and the Cajuns went scoreless for four innings before the 'Cats took the lead in the top of the fifth.

With one out, Wiley launched her fifth home run of the season to make it a 1-0 game in favor of the Bobcats. The Bobcats had recorded a hit in the second by
Taylor Webb and one in the third by Baker before Wiley sent hers out of the park.

A lead-off single in the top of the sixth by
Kimberlin Naivar got the Bobcat offense rolling again. After Naivar advanced to second on a wild pitch, Ortiz drew a walk with no one out. Liscano advanced Naivar and Ortiz to third on a sacrifice bunt to set up Webb for an opportunity with runners in scoring position. With one out, Webb hit a sacrifice fly to left centerfield to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.

The Ragin' Cajuns stormed back in the bottom of the sixth. With a runner on base, Kelsey Vincent tied the ball game up at 2-2 with a home run to left center. Two more home runs were given up in the bottom of the sixth as the Cajuns went on to take a 5-2 lead over the visiting Bobcats.

UL Lafayette retired the Bobcats in order in the seventh to go on and take the doubleheader sweep.

Williams fell to 5-3 overall after putting in six innings of work with two strikeouts for Texas State. Baker, Naivar, Webb, and Wiley all tallied hits for the Bobcats in game two.
