HONOLULU – Game two of the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic for the Texas State men's basketball team takes place Sunday against Hawaii. Tip is slated for 9 p.m. CT in the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Bobcats won their season opener on Friday over Florida Atlantic by the score of 61-57 while the Rainbow Warriors fell 69-68 to SIU-Edwardsville.
Kavin Gilder-Tilbury paced Texas State with 19 points with three made three-pointers. He grabbed seven rebounds as well.
Freshman
Nijal Pearson made an impressive debut against the Owls with 18 points, four rebounds and three steals. Fellow freshman
Marlin Davis and
Nedeljko Prijovic combined for 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting off the bench.
UH was led by Noah Allen, who scored 21 points as he made 7-of-15 field goal attempts and converted all seven of his free throw attempts. He also grabbed seven rebounds and had three steals.
Sheriff Drammeh added 17 points while making 5-of-10 shots. In just 15 minutes of action, Ido Flaisher netted 13 points and retrieved seven boards. Ending the game with a team-high 11 rebounds was Gibson Johnson.
