SAN MARCOS, Texas – On Senior Day, the Texas State women's soccer team battled UL Monroe to a 1-1 double overtime draw at the Bobcat Soccer Complex Sunday afternoon. The game was the seventh overtime game for the Bobcats this season to set a new single-season record.

Texas State concludes the 2016 season with a 6-9-3 record and 3-5-2 mark in Sun Belt Conference play while the Warhawks are now 7-8-3 overall and 4-4-2 in conference play. The Bobcats finished tied for eighth in the league's standings with 11 points with Troy, who hold the tiebreaker for the eighth and final spot in the SBC Tournament.
A ULM corner kick midway through the eighth minute resulted in a counterattack by Texas State.
Lauren Prater took on two defenders and got a solid shot off that went straight at the goalkeeper.

Brooke Ramsey sent forward a long ball in the 17 minute to Prater. However, she pushed the shot just wide of the left post. Two minutes later, Ramsey unleased a hard shot that forced the keeper to have to make a diving save to preserve the scoreless contest.

Late in the 37 minute, Texas State turned the ball near midfield. Danielle Sabathe attempted a long shot from 40 yards out that got caught in the swirling wind.
Heather Martin leapt to attempt to knock the ball over the ball. Unfortunately, the ball hit off Martin's finger tips, off the bottom of the crossbar and then the left post before going into the back of the net and giving ULM a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, the Bobcats uncorked 19 shots to none for the Warhawks as the visitors sat back and played defense. Prater got her head on a cross exactly 67 minutes into the game that was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Rachel Grout was there for the rebound but her shot sailed over the crossbar.

Kira Zapalac sent in a cross from the left side of the box early in the 72nd minute.
Kassi Hormuth was there in the box as he was able to get a flick on it but right at the goalkeeper. However, keeper was not able to catch the ball and it bounced back into play, off a defender and into the net for an own goal to tie the game 1-1.

Five minutes into the first overtime period,
Elizabeth Havenhill sent in a long chip pass that had a chance of going in, but instead landed on top of the netting for a goal kick. The Warhawks were able to gain possession of the ball and ran most of the time off the clock in the extra period.

Texas State had three corner kicks in the first four minutes of the second overtime. While ULM was able to clear out the first two attempts, on the third
Maddie Nichols headed the ball towards goal and out of reach of the keeper. A defender was there to stop the ball and cleared the ball out of the box.

Zapalac had the best opportunity of the with 23 seconds remaining in the game. She uncorked a shot from just outside of the box that hit the bottom side of the crossbar. The ball ricocheted downward off the ground without completely crossing the goal line and back into play.

On the afternoon, the Bobcats unleashed 34 shots with 17 being on goal. The shot total is tied for the second most in a game since 2008 and the shot on goal mark is tied for the third most since the 2008 campaign.

Both Nichols and Zapalac took a game-high seven shots. Zapalac's total set a new career-high for her and Nichols' mark was a season best. Nichols also led the match with five shots on goal.
Rachel Grout finished with four shot attempts. Both
Jordan Kondikoff and Prater took three shots apiece.

Martin played the entire game in goal but faced only two shots, none after halftime. She finished her first collegiate season with 61 saves, a 79.2 save percentage and 1.10 goals against average. Her GAA is tied for the eighth lowest in program history for a season and ranks sixth on the career list.
