Men’s Basketball Hosts Arkansas State to Close Out Short Home Stand

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Coming off a heartbreaking loss in overtime on Thursday, the Texas State men's basketball team looks to snap a two-game skid on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Strahan Coliseum against Arkansas State. It will be the final home game for the Bobcats in January.
 
The game will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel (Ch. 323) throughout the state of Texas. Tom Franklin and Jeff Power will be calling the game
 
On the season, Texas State is 8-7 overall and 2-4 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Red Wolves sport a 9-9 record and are 5-2 in the SBC. They are 2-7 on the road with their victories coming against South Alabama and Troy to open conference play.
 
Emani Gant leads the Bobcats in points (13.9), rebounds (7.3) and field goal percentage (51.1). Netting 12.5 points per game with a 39.2 shooting percentage from beyond the arc is Kavin Gilder-Tilbury.
 
After his career night against Little Rock, Ethan Montalvo increased his scoring average to 11.2. The senior guard has made 47 baskets this season and 28 of them have been three-pointers. He leads the team with 21 steals and an 85.4 free throw percentage.
 
Texas State ranks 11th nationally in scoring defense surrendering 61.8 ppg. The team is also 12th with 16.67 turnovers forced per game and rank 17th with a +3.6 turnover margin.
 
A trio of players for Arkansas State are averaging double-figure points led by Devin Carters' 17.2. He has scored at least 20 points in 10 contests this season that includes a career-high 34 Thursday night at UT Arlington.
 
Anthony Livingston is nearly averaging a double-double with 15.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game and Donte Thomas adds 13.1 ppg and 6.7 rpg.
 
In charge of the Red Wolves is John Brady. He has compiled a 119-118 record in his eight years at the helm and is 400-334 in his career. Prior to arriving in Jonesboro, Brady was at LSU for 11 seasons and led the Tigers to a Final Four appearance in 2006.
