SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State put on a record-breaking performance to sweep Prairie View A&M, 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-5), in the team's first match of the day. The squad was the most efficient a Texas State volleyball team ever has been with a .554 hitting percentage in the match to beat out the previous school record of .553 that stood since 1988. Texas State totaled 42 kills with just six errors on 65 attempts.

In addition to the team,
Jordan Kohl put down nine kills on 10 attempts without an error to finish the match hitting .900. That's another new school record. The previous record was set by Amy Weigle who hit a .737 in 2006.

Simply put, the Bobcats dominated the Panthers. In the opening set, Texas State set the tone with 14 kills on a .478 percentage while only allowing four kills for Prairie View A&M to hit a -.091.
Shelby Vas Matt was able to get the Bobcats started with six kills and just one error on nine attempts to hit .556 in the opening set. Kohl added five of her kills while
Emily Shelton gave out 11 assists in the frame alone. The Bobcats added four blocks with three from
Kelsey Weynand.

With such a strong start in the opening frame, the Bobcats cycled in more players during the second set.
Ally Standard saw her first action of her collegiate career and wasted no time with a solo block. Kohl piled up four more kills while Weynand,
Madison Daigle and
Haley Henderson added three each to help the Bobcats hit .481 with 16 kills in the set.

In the third frame, the Bobcats boosted the team's hitting percentage with 12 kills on 15 attempts without an error for an .800 percentage in the set. Henderson and
Keeley Davis each had three kills in the third set.

In addition to Kohl's nine kills, Vas Matt and Henderson each finished with six kills in the match. The Bobcats totaled 42 kills with just six errors.
Emily Shelton gave out 20 assists while
Erin Hoppe added 10. Weynand was able to tally a team-high eight digs, a quarter of the team's 32 digs, while
Jaliyah Bolden was in on six blocks. Henderson finished with four to help Texas State put down 11 blocks in the match.

Texas State will continue the Delta Zeta Classic with a match against Lamar at 7 p.m. Friday night before finishing the weekend against Indiana at 4 p.m. Saturday.
