HOUSTON – A first half goal by
Lauren Prater and a second tacked on by
Lynsey Curry lifted the Texas State soccer team to a 2-0 shutout over Houston Friday evening. The victory marked just the second victory all-time against Houston and in the past eight seasons, Texas State is 6-1-1 in season openers.

Curry finished the contest with three points as she was credited with the assist on Prater's goal in the 39
th minute. The senior captain snuck the ball through the middle to Prater who ultimately beat out the keeper to put the Bobcats on top early.

Texas State (1-0-0) continued to maintain possession throughout the majority of the first half as it outshot the Cougars, 10-2, in the half. Curry led the Bobcat effort with five.

With a chippy second half which included a Houston player receiving a red card to put the Cougars a man down, the Bobcats pulled away in the 89
th minute with Curry's first goal of the season.

Kassi Hormuth who placed it perfectly for Curry to bury it to the left side of the net.

Senior goalkeeper
Caitlynn Rinehart recorded three saves in the contest including one early in the first half that prevented the Cougars from taking the early advantage.
