MONROE, La. – Texas State started the front end of the team's road trip through Louisiana with a dominating victory over UL Monroe Thursday night, sweeping the Warhawks, 25-21, 25-18, 25-17. With the win, Texas State improves to 16-11 overall and 11-3 in Sun Belt Conference action to tighten the team's grip on third place in the SBC.

The Bobcats finished with 14 more kills, 13 more assists and seven more digs than the Warhawks while hitting .252 to ULM's .125. In the third and final set, the Bobcats held ULM to just a .045 hitting percentage just after Texas State hit .286 in the second set with 17 kills to just three errors.

Three Bobcats finished the night with double-doubles.
Shelby Vas Matt did it the traditional way with 10 kills and 15 digs, adding two blocks. She led the team in kills. Meanwhile, setters
Emily Shelton and
Erin Hoppe pulled off the feat with assists and digs. Shelton finished with 19 assists and 12 digs along with an ace while Hoppe gave out 18 assists and added 11 digs.

Leading the squad defensively was
Sierra Smith with 17 digs on the night. In addition to Vas Matt's two blocks,
Morgan Lewis and
Madison Daigle added two more apiece.

Daigle, meanwhile, was second on the team in kills with nine on a .308 hitting percentage. Lewis added seven while
Lauren Kirch,
Kelsey Weynand and
Jordan Kohl all added six kills apiece to showcase Texas State's offensive versatility.

The Bobcats will move on to UL Lafayette next with a 6:30 p.m. match on Saturday. After that, the Bobcats will return home to host South Alabama before the SBC Championship Tournament.
