SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State is riding a four-match winning streak into the final regular season match against South Alabama. The Bobcats will host the Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. Friday on the same night Texas State will honor its two seniors:
Ali Hubicsak and
Sierra Smith.

This will be the sixth meeting between Texas State and South Alabama since their first meeting in 2013. The Bobcats have struggled against the Jaguars on the road, dropping two of three meetings, to date, but have held strong at home at 2-0.

Texas State fell to South Alabama in the last meeting in Mobile, Ala. The Bobcats dropped the first set, but rebounded in the second. Gave up the third but won the fourth to push the match to five sets. Unfortunately, the Jaguars went on a 5-1 run to go from down, 9-7, to up, 12-10. The Bobcats tied it at 12-12, but South Alabama was able to outlast Texas State on USA's home court.

Madison Daigle led the team with 13 kills while
Morgan Lewis finished with 11 kills.
Shelby Vas Matt added 10 while
Kelsey Weynand and
Jordan Kohl combined for 17 more kills. Daigle and Lewis hit strong percentages in the middle for the Bobcats at .333 and .375 respectively.
Erin Hoppe and
Emily Shelton gave out a combined 52 assists with Hoppe gaining the slight edge with 24 in the match. Lewis led the team in blocks with three while Weynand and Daigle each had a solo block and a block assist.

On the Jaguars
Since playing Texas State, South Alabama has gone 1-3 with two matches left in the regular season, one against the Bobcats and one at UT Arlington. The Jaguars are currently ranked sixth in the conference at 7-7 in Sun Belt action, four and a half games behind the Bobcats.

Mechell Daniel leads the team in kills with 363 while Nikki Gittens has 219. Three other players are in triple-digits, led by Sarah Richardson with 126. Emma Anderson has given out 789 assists while Arissa Chappell leads the team in service aces with 31. Savannah Stewart has 21 aces, but the Jaguars have been outserved, 126-111.

Defensively, Emily Hundt has 408 digs to lead the team while Daniel has 253 in second. Chappell has 246 and Stewart has 220 digs. At the net, Gittens has 100 blocks on the year for an average of 1.00 blocks per set. Sarah Richardson has 99 blocks.

On the Bobcats
Texas State is heating up as the team heads to the end of the season and prepares for the Sun Belt Conference Championship. The Bobcats have won four matches in a row heading into the season finale while freshman
Madison Daigle has garnered consecutive SBC Freshman of the Week awards.

The Bobcats have found success in the 6-2 rotation with
Erin Hoppe and
Emily Shelton giving out assists and running the offense.
Jordan Kohl still leads the team in kills with 259, but the Bobcats are getting even contributions throughout the entire roster. Daigle and
Morgan Lewis in the middle have 146 and 170 kills respectively while
Shelby Vas Matt and
Kelsey Weynand have 215 and 202 respectively.

Texas State has dominated in service against opponents with 144 service aces to just 69 for the team's opponents.
Sierra Smith leads in digs with 332 while Vas Matt has 229. There are three others in triple digits and
Alex Silver has 98. At the net, Lewis leads the way with 96 blocks and the next closest Bobcat is Daigle with 60 blocks.

A Look Ahead
After Friday's match against South Alabama, the Bobcats will prepare for the Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament in Statesboro, Ga., on Nov. 20-22.
