NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team played the No. 8 mid major team in the country down to the wire, before falling 66-60 to Stephen F. Austin, Wednesday night at William R. Johnson Coliseum in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Texas State made a furious comeback with under a minute to go, hitting three straight three-pointers to cut it to 63-60 with 19.5 seconds to go, but would come no closer as SFA made free throws down the stretch to ice the game.

Stephen F. Austin went on a 17-0 run to take a 52-37 lead in the second half and never looked back. Junior Demetrious Floyd had four three-pointers during the spurt.

The Bobcats then responded with a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 52-46 with 5:45 to go, before trading baskets prior to the three-point barrage at the end.

Texas State took control of the game halfway through the first half, going on an 10-0 run to take a 16-11 lead. Emani Gant and Cameron Naylor attacked the basket to each help propel the Bobcats to their largest lead of the game at that point.

Right before halftime, Wes Davis pushed the ball in transition and then looked to be holding for the last shot of the half before finding a hole in the defense and dumping it off to Naylor for the flush as the Bobcats led 30-27 at halftime.

Naylor finished the game as the team's leading scorer with 13 points along with eight rebounds. He was joined in double figures by Gant, Brown and Davis who had 11, 12 and 11 respectively.

The Bobcats will next be in action to conclude non-conference on Saturday, Dec. 20, when they take on Huston-Tillotson at 4 p.m.
