SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State head men's basketball coach Danny Kaspar makes his return to Stephen F. Austin for the first time since leaving following the 2012-13 season, on Wednesday, when the Bobcats head to Nacogdoches to take on the Lumberjacks.
Kaspar amassed a record of 246-141 during his 13 years at SFA. He led the Lumberjacks to one NCAA Tournament and two trips to the NIT, along with having the top defense in the country twice.
Stephen F. Austin is coming off a trip to the NCAA Tournament last season, including a win over VCU in the round of 64, its first NCAA Tournament win in school history. This year's Lumberjacks come into Wednesday's contest at 7-3, and have three players on the team that were recruited by Kaspar.
The Bobcats enter Wednesday's game 12th in the country in defense, allowing an average of just 54.6 points per game. Texas State allowed just 59 points to Texas on its home floor on Saturday, the fewest points for the Longhorns at the Frank Erwin center since February 2013 against then-No. 22 Oklahoma State.
Wednesday's game will be broadcast on 89.9 FM KTSW, and www.txstatebobcats.com/radio. Live streaming and live stats are available at sfajacks.com.
