Bobcats Head to Lafayette to Begin Sun Belt Play

Notes

San Marcos, Texas –
Fresh off starting the season 3-1, the Texas State football team will look to make it 4-1 and more importantly, 1-0 in conference, as it heads to Lafayette, La., to take on the University of Louisiana, Saturday night. The game kicks off at 6:07 p.m. and can be seen throughout Central Texas on
The CW Austin (KNVA) and on ESPN 3.

The Bobcats are coming off a 42-21 victory over Wyoming last Saturday at Bobcat Stadium. The game included a three-and-a half-hour weather delay and on the field, freshman quarterback Tyler Jones making his first start. Jones completed 14-of-18 passes for 196 yards and also gained 56 yards on the ground. He was helped by a strong running game as Robert Lowe had a career-high 138 yards on 30 carries, the most by a Texas State running back under Dennis Franchione since 2011.

Louisiana-Lafayette was tabbed the preseason favorite in the Sun Belt Conference, as it returns 14 starters from last year's team which went 9-4. The Ragin Cajuns enter the game 2-2 this season, including two straight victories over Nicholls and Akron.

Fans wishing to get involved before the game can participate in the social media challenge between the two schools by liking Texas State athletics on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
