Texas State Athletics Department Announces Priority Points System For Season Ticket Holders and Donors

The Texas State Department of Athletics is pleased to announce Priority Points system for season ticket holders and donors to the Bobcat Club, athletic endowments or major gift donors.  Priority Points is a scoring system to reward current and philanthropic giving as well as season-ticket purchases.

Priority points will be used to rank donors and season-ticket holders interested in purchasing available Champions Club Level seats and Legacy Suites, tickets to future football bowl games, and tickets NCAA basketball postseason tournaments.  The points will also be used for season ticket relocations at Bobcat Stadium, determining future football gameday parking locations, and other events.

There are four components used to calculate priority points:
        -  Donations*: 1 point for every $100 donated to the Bobcat Club, any athletic related endowment, or major gift
        -  Season Ticket purchases**: 1 point for every season ticket in any sport purchased
        -  Consecutive years of giving*: 1 point for each consecutive year of donating to the Bobcat Club (must be current donor to receive these points)
        -  Consecutive years of season tickets**:  1 point for each consecutive year of purchasing a season ticket (must be current season ticket holder to receive these points)

*The Bobcat Club was established in 2007; any donation made prior to 2007 is not included in the calculation
**Season tickets records on file go back to 2006; season ticket purchases prior to 2006 are not part of the calculation

For Example: Joe Fan has given $500 to the Bobcat Club each year since 2009, and has held four football and two basketball season tickets since 2009.  Joe made an additional $1000 donation to an athletic endowment in 2011.

This is a summary of his points:
         - 5 points each year (2009 – 2013) for his $500 donation = 25 points
         - 5 points for giving in 5 consecutive years = 5 points
         - 4 points for each football season ticket (2009 – 2013) = 20 points
         - 5 points for consecutive football season tickets (2009-2013) = 5 points
         - 2 points for each basketball season ticket (2009-2013) = 10 points
         - 5 points for consecutive basketball season tickets (2009-2013) = 5 points
         - 10 points for his $1000 donation = 10 points
         Grand total: 80 priority points

“I am excited to be introducing Priority Points for the Texas State athletics department,” said Matt Peters, Assistant Director of Athletics.  “This system is the industry standard in collegiate athletics and is used at universities across the country to reward the most loyal donors and season ticket holders while encouraging others to  support the athletics department.  Due to the rapid and continuing growth of Texas State athletics, the need has arisen to implement a points system for priority seating and Champions Club seats and Legacy Suites.  We are also laying the groundwork for future bowl game appearances and parking priority at Bobcat Stadium.”

The Bobcat Club is the principal fundraising arm of the Texas State Intercollegiate Athletics Department.   Bobcat Club has provided a way for supporters to help talented Texas State student-athletes receive a top tier education while pursuing their goals both on and off the field of competition.  While the primary focus is providing scholarship support for student-athletes, the Bobcat Club is also focused on raising money for facilities upgrades and high impact projects that directly benefit our student-athletes.
