Texas State Announces New Plans For Bobcat Home Football Games

SAN MARCOS - The 2012 football season promises to be a completely new ball game for Texas State football fans when the Bobcats play their home games in an expanded Bobcat Stadium as a member of an NCAA Division I FBS conference.

This marks the third straight season in which Texas State has made improvements to Bobcat Stadium. In 2009, the school added premium seating when the Legacy Suites and Champions Club levels were constructed inside the Jerry D. Fields and Linda Gregg Fields West Side Complex. In 2010, a new playing surface was installed and new video screens and scoreboard were added to the stadium. This season, seating capacity for the stadium has increased from 16,000 to nearly 30,000 seats with the addition of the North End Zone Complex. The Complex also includes the new Mark and Linda Smith Bobcat Ticket Office, three fan shops for Bobcat fans to purchase game-day attire, new dressing rooms for visiting teams and game officials, track and field locker rooms and offices, weight and training rooms, along with the Linda Gregg Fields Strutters Gallery.

Due to the increased seating capacity and numerous additions to Bobcat Stadium, the University and City of San Marcos have worked to highlight and improve several game day operations including traffic flow, parking, transportation, and stadium amenities. All of the information below and more can be obtained by visiting txstatebobcats.com/gamedaycentral.

Tailgating
Before and After Each Game
Another tradition at Texas State is fans tailgating before and after each game at Bobcat Alley, which is located on the Jowers Practice Fields on the corner of Charles Austin Drive and Dagger's Way between Strahan Coliseum and the Jowers Center. In addition to enjoying food and friends, there is free live music and prizes are given away. Fans can start tailgating on the morning of the game and can tailgate for one hour after each game.

Fans are allowed to tailgate in other parking lots as long as the tailgate does not take up more than one parking spot. Texas State and visiting team fans looking to tailgate with RVs are asked to set up in the Speck Garage and Commuter Lot area or purchase a Bobcat Club RV Pass to park in the Reserved West Lot near Bobcat Stadium.

As the Bobcats begin a new era in the Western Athletic Conference in 2012, Texas State has prepared for its move to the FBS with improved facilities and new ways for fans to enjoy while attending its home football games.
