Waco, Texas – Texas State softball blanked both of its opponents today, as it beat UTEP 3-0 in game one, and then defeated No. 9 Baylor, 1-0 in game two at the Texas Shootout today hosted by the Bears. The Bobcats improve to 7-7 overall. Texas State will face Texas Tech in the championship game tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.

Chandler Hall (2-4) tied her season-high of 12 strikeouts, as the senior pitcher/outfielder helped lift the Bobcats to a 3-0 win over UTEP in game three of the tournament.
Texas State registered a pair of runs in the second inning to get things started. Back-to-back-to-back singles by Allison Snow, Courtney Harris and Brook Baker loaded the bases for Texas State with one out. Selena Hernandez drove in Snow for the first score of the game, followed by a single through the left side by Hall that scored Harris.
The Bobcats added one more run in the fifth inning when pinch runner Brittney Garcia scored on a throwing error by the first baseman.
Texas State out-hit UTEP, 9-7. Hall, Snow and Anna Hernandez had two hits apiece to lead Texas State. UTEP committed three errors in the ball game. Colleen Hohman (1-5) suffered the loss for the Miners.

Junior sensation Anne Marie Taylor (5-3) was amazing in the circle today as she pitched the Bobcats to a 1-0 win over No.9/10 Baylor for her second victory of the tournament. Taylor fanned five batters in seven innings of work.
Texas State's lone run came in the bottom of the third inning. Garcia came in to pinch run for Shelby Carnline who was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Garcia advanced to second on a sac bunt by Baker, and made it to third on a groundout by S. Hernandez. Garcia would eventually cross the plate, after Hall reached first on a fielding error by the first baseman, in which would have been the third out.
