San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State men's hoops team will begin their three-game road trip on Saturday, Dec. 15 in Austin. The game will be televised on the Longhorn Network. Tip-off versus Texas is slated for 7 p.m.
Series
Texas owns a 41-5 lead in the all-time series, which began in 1920. Saturday will be the ninth time in as many years that the two teams will have played each other.
Scouting Texas State
Texas State is coming off a 73-58 victory over UT Pan American at home. Saturday will be the Bobcats' first true road contest. Senior Matt Staff leads the team in points with an average of 16.2 ppg. The Houston native also leads the nation in free throw percentage at a perfect 100%, going 23-of-23 so far this season. The Bobcats are averaging 74.9 points per game.
Scouting Texas
Texas is on a two-game losing streak after falling to Georgetown and UCLA last week. The Longhorns boast a 4-0 record at home this season, with an average attendance of 9,222. UT ranks second in the nation in field goal percentage defense (33.1) and eighth in three-point field goal defense (23.9). The Longhorns average 7.2 blocks per game - for eighth-best. Sheldon McClellan is the top scorer for Texas with an average of 15.9 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game.

December 10, 2011 – Texas 86, Texas State 52
Eddie Rios led Texas State with 11 points, while Travis Jones and Wesley Davis added eight each. The Bobcats shot a season-low 25.9 percent (15-58) from the floor. Julien Lewis had 19 points for Texas, while five Longhorns total scored in double digits. The loss snapped a three-game win streak by the Bobcats.
