San Marcos, Texas – Wednesday's contest at Stephen F. Austin will be the second meeting between the Bobcats and Lumberjacks this season. Tip-off at Johnson Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Series
Stephen F. Austin leads the all-time series, 98-67. The Lumberjacks won the last outing in San Marcos on Jan. 4, 2012 in the conference opener. The Jacks hit a desperation three-pointer with time winding down to escape with the victory.
Scouting Texas State
Texas State is coming off an 82-79 loss to UT Arlington at home. The Bobcats fell to the league-leading Mavericks to drop their fourth straight.
Texas State leads the SLC in scoring (79.1 ppg) and is fourth in field goal percentage (.441), and third in three-point percentage (.360). The Bobcats sit in sixth place in the SLC West Division with an 8-12 overall record and a 1-6 record in league play.
The Bobcats are led in scoring by senior Brooks Ybarra with 12.4 ppg and 3.7 rpg. Junior forward Matt Staff is second with 11.6 ppg and 7.7 rpg. Senior Eddie Rios rounds out the top three with 11.1 ppg and 2.6 apg.
Scouting Stephen F. Austin
Stephen F. Austin enters Wednesday's game with an 11-9 overall record and 5-2 record in conference play. The Jacks rank third in the SLC West Division standings and are tied for third overall.
SFA is 6-3 at home so far this season. The Jacks are on a two-game win streak. SFA's most recent victory was a 64-49 win over A&M-Corpus Christi.
SFA is ninth in the league in scoring (61.9 ppg) and first in scoring defense at 54.8 ppg. The Lumberjacks are shooting 64.3 percent from the free throw line, but are last in the league in three-point field goals made with an average of 3.4 per game.
Jereal Scott is the team's leader scorer averaging 13.7 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. Antonio Bostic is second in scoring with 10.7 ppg.
