San Marcos, Texas - The Texas State Athletics Department announced that it is teaming up with Border Media to broadcast their football games on ESPN Deportes (KXXS 92.5 FM) throughout the Austin area during the 2011 season.
Each game will feature a one-hour pre-game and 15-minute post-game shows with each broadcast that includes Brant Freeman calling the play-by-play and Bill Culhane providing color commentary. .
“This is a great opportunity to team with Border Media,” said Texas State associate athletic director Don Coryell. “This agreement gives us a commercial radio broadcast, a presence in the Austin area and we are teaming with a media group that has the ability to promote Bobcat Athletics.”
In addition to ESPN Deportes, Border Media is also the home for ESPN Austin 1530 AM, 104.9 The Horn, and is of the largest conglomerates with sports-related content throughout the Texas Hill Country.
“Part of our agreement with Border Media includes cross promotion on all of their ESPN stations in Austin as well as live remote appearances,” added Coryell. “Having the ability to utilize all of Border Media's resources was very important to us.”
In addition to being aired on ESPN Deportes, each of the broadcasts can be heard live on www.espnaustin.com.
Bobcat Athletics also announced that the Dennis Franchione Radio Show can be heard live on Thursday nights on ESPN Austin 1530 AM and will re-air at 7:00 p.m. on 104.9 FM The Horn. Fan can also listen to coach Franchione every Wednesday morning on 104.9 FM on the Bud Light Snap Shot beginning at 9:40 a.m.
Texas State can also continue to tune in to KTSW 89.9 FM in San Marcos to hear each of its six road games with Freeman and Culhane calling the action. KTSW also will have a separate broadcast during home games with current Texas State students describing the action.
“Continuing our relationship with KTSW means a great deal to our department” said Coryell. “Giving Texas State students the opportunity to participate in the broadcasting of Bobcat football is an invaluable experience for them. KTSW general manager Dan Schumacher and his department have been instrumental in our ability to air our athletic events and we are very fortunate to have an outstanding campus radio station that supports the Bobcats.”
Texas State kicks off its 2011 season on September 3 at Texas Tech on ESPN Deportes (92.5 FM) in Austin and KTSW (89.9 FM) in San Marcos. The game also will be audio streamed on the internet at www.espnaustin.com and www.txstatebobcats.com.
Bobcat fans can still purchase season tickets for the 2011 season by calling 512-245- 2272 or on line at www.txstatebobcats.com. The Bobcats play their first of six home games on September 17 against Tarleton State at Bobcat Stadium. Texas State also plays host to Nicholls on Oct. 1, Lamar on Oct. 15, Northwestern State on Oct. 29, Prairie View A&M on Nov. 5 and Sam Houston State on Nov. 19.
Season ticket prices begin at $72 for general admission seating. Reserved seats are on sale for $90 for adults and $60 for youth 12 and under. Bobcat Club and Texas State faculty and staff can purchase reserved seats for $84. Recent Texas State Alumni who have graduated from 2006-11 can purchase season tickets for $69. T-Association members can buy season tickets for $45 with a donation.
Texas State is offering family packages of two adult and two children tickets for $274, while groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $81 each. Texas State is also offering two separate season ticket packages on its Champions Club Level.
