San Marcos, Texas –Texas State men's basketball dominated the floor tonight with a 62-point first half showing, en route to a 101-60 victory over Texas Lutheran tonight at Strahan Coliseum. It was the Bobcats' 11th consecutive win at home as six players scored in double figures.

Senior Brooks Ybarra was on fire tonight, going 6-for-8 from the floor with a team leading 18 points. Eddie Rios tallied 17 points, Travis Jones had 13, and John Bowman and Gordon Ball each registered 10 points each. Matt Staff recorded Texas State's first double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The first half was a scoring frenzy, as the Bobcats put on a 62-point performance to light up the scoreboard; three points shy of setting a school record. Texas State started the game out on an 8-0 run before Texas Lutheran's Isaac Williams' layup would end it.

Good ball movement by the Bobcats would soon find them increasing their lead on Texas Lutheran with the Bulldogs unable to find a way to slow the Bobcats down. Jones put the Bobcats up by 22 with a three-pointer, and then good defense saw him steal the ball and come away with a dunk to excite the crowd.

With the home crowd backing Texas State the whole way, the Bobcats went up 30 points on Texas Lutheran when Rios dished the ball up court to Ybarra who capitalized on a fast break three-pointer to extend the home team's lead to 41-11.

Texas State entered halftime with a 62-24 lead with Rios and Ybarra guiding the way with 10 points each.

Coming out of halftime, the Bulldogs were able to stay in the game a little more with Texas State and slowed the game down. Brandon Potts posted 11 of Texas Lutheran's 36 points in the second half, but it was not enough to top the Bobcats. Texas State made 15 of 20 free throws in the half and finished 78 percent from the line.

Tonight was the Bobcats' sixth straight season opener win to improve its series record against Texas Lutheran to 24-7.

Texas State returns to Strahan Coliseum on Tuesday, November 15 at 7 p.m. to host Howard Payne.
