Men’s Basketball Comeback Falls Short in 126-127 Overtime Loss to Our Lady of the Lake

Ryan White netted 21 points, including the last six of Texas State's points, but the Bobcats' comeback fell short as they dropped a 126-127 overtime decision to visiting Our Lady of the Lake University at Strahan Coliseum this afternoon.

Tony Bishop recorded his third double-double of the season as the senior forward had a career-high 20 points and 16 rebounds. Cameron Johnson had his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 boards, while White added 11 assists with his scoring spree to notch a double-double as well. #A. J. Stewart# finished the game with 12 points and six blocks. Texas State had seven players finish the game in double figures.

Texas State was down 31 points with 8:58 to go in the game when a pair of free throws by #J.B. Conley# brought the Bobcats to within 29 points. Texas State kept chopping away as it went on a 14-point run to hold the Saints scoreless for a span of 3:15.

A trio of treys by Travis Jones cut the Saints lead to nine with 3:13 remaining. With the momentum shifting in Texas State's favor, clutch free throws by White and a pair of dunks by Bishop saw the Bobcats come to within four with 28 seconds remaining.

White nailed a 3-pointer and a missed layup by OLLU, paved the way for a Stewart layup that tied the game with time running down.

The Saints scored first in overtime, but Texas State was not going to give up that easily. Over the five minute span, White scored seven of the Bobcats 18 points all from the charity stripe. A layup by Bishop with 1:31 remaining gave the Bobcats their first lead in the overtime period. Texas State kept piling on the points with six made free throws by White, but a last minute desperation shot by OLLU's Robert Martinez gave the Saints the 127-126 victory over Texas State.

Martinez and Dionelle Rucker led OLLU with 29 points apiece. The Saints had six players score in double digits.

Texas State returns to the court on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. to host North Texas at Strahan Coliseum.
