Texas State Football Team Travels To Stephen F. Austin On Saturday

Bobcats Play Against No. 3-Ranked Lumberjacks

STEPHEN F. AUSTIN GAME NOTES
The Texas State football team looks to even its overall record to 4-4 and improve its Southland Conference record to 1-3 on Saturday, October 30, when the Bobcats travel to Nacogdoches, Texas, and play third-ranked Stephen F. Austin at Homer Bryce Stadium. The game kicks off at 2:00 p.m. and can be heard on KTSW-FM 89.9 and online at www.txstatebobcats.com/All-Access.

LOOKING AT TEXAS STATE
 Texas State fell to 3-4 last Saturday after suffering a 16-3 loss against Northwestern State in its annual Homecoming game in San Marcos. The loss was Texas State's third straight setback dating back to a 49-24 defeat at Southeastern Louisiana on October 9 in Hammond, La.  Texas State also suffered a
47-45 loss in quadruple overtime against Nicholls on October 16.

Those three losses came after Texas State won three straight home games with a 31-17 victory over Southern Arkansas on September 11, a 21-12 win over then #17-ranked Cal Poly on September 18 and a 42-28 victory over Southern Utah on September 25.

LOOKING AT STEPHEN F. AUSTIN

Stephen F.  Austin enters Saturday's contest ranked No 3 in the latest FCS Coaches poll and No. 4 in this week's Fathead.com/The Sports Network Top 25 poll after winning their sixth straight game with a 31-28 victory over Sam Houston State at Reliant Stadium in Houston last Saturday, October 23.  The Lumberjacks lead the SLC in total and scoring offense with averages of 425.3 yards and 36.0 points per game. SFA also lead the SLC in scoring defense with 21.0 points per contest.

SERIES RECORD

Texas State enters Saturday's game with a 54-29-1 series record against Stephen F. Austin after winning the last three games and five of the last six contests played between the two schools. The Bobcats also have won the last two games played at Bryce Stadium with a 62-21 victory in 2008 and a 38-21 triumph in 2005. Last season, Texas State won a 28-7 decision in San Marcos and also won 52-29 in 2007 in San Marcos.

WHO'S NEXT?

Following the Stephen F.  Austin game, Texas State plays its last home game during the regular season on November 6 when the Bobcats play host to Central Arkansas. After the Central Arkansas game, the Bobcats close out the regular season with two straight road games at McNeese State on November 13 and at Sam Houston State on November 20.
