The Texas State football team looks to improve its overall record to 4-3 and improve its Southland Conference record to 1-2 on Saturday, October 23, when the Bobcats play host to Northwestern State in a Southland Conference game on the newly renovated Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium. The game is also Texas State's annual Homecoming game and kicks off at 3:00 p.m.

The Teams
Texas State fell to 3-3 last Saturday after suffering a 47-45 loss in quadruple overtime against Nicholls. It marked the first time the Bobcats have had a game go into four overtime periods since 1996, when the Colonels won a 49-36 decision in five overtime periods. The loss also came after Texas State dropped a 49-24 decision at Southeastern Louisiana on October 9. Those two losses came after Texas State won three straight home games with a 31-17 victory over Southern Arkansas on September 11, a 21-12 win over then #17-ranked Cal Poly on September 18 and a 42-28 victory over Southern Utah on September 25.
Northwestern State enters tonight's game with a 2-4 overall record and the Demons are 1-1 in SLC play after defeating Central Arkansas on October 9 in Conway, Ark. Northwestern State opened its SLC schedule with a 24-7 loss against McNeese State after posting a 1-3 non-conference record. Northwestern State opened the season with a 65-21 loss at Air Force and a 19-7 loss against Samford before defeating Tarleton State 17-14 on Sept. 18. The Demons also suffered a 49-24 setback at North Dakota State.
Texas State In Homecoming Games
Texas State looks to win its second straight Homecoming game this Saturday when the Bobcats play host to Northwestern State. Texas State enters Saturday's game with a record of 43-29-1 in Homecoming games. Last season, the Bobcats defeated Stephen F. Austin 28-7 and has won five of its last six Homecoming contests.
Series Record
This marks the 28th time that Texas State and Northwestern State have met on the gridiron. The Bobcats enter this year's game with an 11-16 series record against the Demons in a series that began on October 8, 1983 in San Marcos.
Texas State has a 6-8 record in home games against Northwestern State after suffering a 34-31 overtime loss against the Demons on Nov. 1, 2008. The Bobcats won last year's game 20-17 in Natchitoches.

Following the Northwestern State game, Texas State travels to Stephen F. Austin on October 30. The Bobcats play their last home game this season on November 6 when the Bobcats play host to Central Arkansas.
