Gandy is in his third season as the football analyst for Texas State Bobcats after 6 years radio analyst experience with other networks, most recently with the Ranger Network for Smithson Valley High School and Comal ISD schools.

As a four-year letterman and linebacker with the Baylor Bears from 1979-1982, Gandy was a two-year starter as well as a team captain. He played on the Bears’ 1979 Peach Bowl Team defeating No. 10 ranked Clemson and the 1980 team that won the Southwest Conference with an undefeated 8-0 record in conference play. That year, the team was ranked as high as No. 6 putting them in the Cotton Bowl for only the second time in school history. Gandy was a starting linebacker in 1981 and 1982, and still ranks 3rd all-time Single Season Leader in total tackles earned in 1982, 5th all-time Total Tackles Season Leader 1982 and 8th all-time Assisted Tackles 1979-1982.

Following his collegiate career, Gandy was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 1983 and was a member of the NFC championship team that played in Super Bowl XVIII.

Gandy was also a standout in football and track at San Antonio’s Churchill High School. He was a member of the school’s state championship football team (15-0) as a sophomore and was a two-time All-District and All-Area player as a junior and senior, playing in both San Antonio and Texas High School Coaches All Star games.  He was inducted into Churchill’s Athletics Hall of Honor in 2019.

Gandy has spent the last 20+ years as an Executive Sales Specialist with Janssen Pharmaceutical, a Johnson & Johnson Neuroscience division of the company.

He and his wife, Nanci, have two grown sons, Matt, daughter-in-law Katie and grandson Oliver who live in Austin, and Garrett who resides in Dallas.  He enjoys spending time at the lake with family and friends as well as hunting with friends.
