Texas State legend Tristan Stivors returns to San Marcos as the assistant director of pitching development after being hired in September of 2025.
Stivors spent the previous three years in the Chicago White Sox organization. Drafted by the Sox in the 14th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, he put together a 7-4 record and seven saves and 101 strikeouts over 62 relief outings.
The Castroville, Texas native set the Texas State mark for career saves with 27 with a single season record 18 in 2022. He helped lead Texas State to the winner-take-all game of the 2022 Stanford Regional. Stivors made his lone career start in the contest, going seven innings and striking out nine while giving up one run on his way to earning all-regional team honors.
Stivors was named the NCBWA Stopper of the Year in 2022 after leading the nation in saves. He became the program’s first-ever consensus First Team All while also being picked as the Sun Belt Conference Male Athlete of the Year and be chosen to the all-conference first team.
