Texas State Athletics

Sören Burns joined Texas State Athletics as Assistant Director of Communications after serving as a Strategic Communications Assistant at the University of South Alabama. During his time at South Alabama, he served as the primary communications contact for baseball, men's golf, and cross country while supporting the department's overall communications efforts. Burns also served as official statistics for the 2025 68 Ventures Bowl, televised on ESPN2, and for South Alabama's men's basketball game against Georgia Southern on ESPNU.

Prior to South Alabama, Burns was a Communications Intern at Texas Tech Athletics, where he gained experience in athletic communications, media relations, and statistical operations. He also volunteered with the Big 12 Conference during the 2025 Big 12 Baseball Championship, assisting the conference communications staff with game coverage and postgame media responsibilities.

A native of Santa Cruz, California, Burns was a student-athlete and baseball player at West Valley College before transferring to Texas Tech University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Public Relations and Strategic Communications.
