Michelle Hamilton

Dr. Michelle Hamilton is in her first year as the Texas State’s NCAA and Sun Belt Conference Faculty Athletics Representative. 

Dr. Hamilton joined the Texas State faculty in 2001 as an assistant professor in the Health and Human Performance Department after three-year stints at Houston and North Texas. She was tenured and promoted to associate professor in 2004, and promoted to professor in 2017.
 
She earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation and youth leadership at Michigan State University, a master’s degree in adapted physical education at Western Michigan University, and a Ph.D. in physical education and exercise science at Michigan State University.
 
Dr. Hamilton was inducted into the San Marcos Women’s Hall of Fame in 2015 to recognize her leadership and service to the San Marcos community after she spearheaded several education-based initiatives. Some of her contributions included serving as the board chair for the United Way of Hays County and the San Marcos Commission on Youth and Family.
