Danny-David Linahan

Danny-David Linahan is in his second season with Texas State and his first as an assistant coach with the Texas State baseball program after joining the Bobcats in November 2024. He serves as the team’s hitting coach and has worked closely with the teams’ catchers and outfielders, bringing extensive professional and collegiate development experience to San Marcos.

Linahan arrived at Texas State following two seasons with the Minnesota Twins organization, where he served as a Major League Assistant Hitting Coach. In the big leagues, he oversaw offensive game planning while contributing to hitter development through advanced opponent analysis, biomechanics, functional movement, and mental performance strategies.

During his tenure, the Twins captured the 2023 American League Central Division title and earned the franchise’s first postseason victory since 2004. Minnesota’s offense showcased exceptional depth, producing twelve players with double-digit home runs, seven of whom set career highs. He also played a key role in the development of emerging stars such as Royce Lewis, who set a Twins rookie record with five grand slams in just 66 games.

Prior to Minnesota, Linahan spent the 2022 season with the Cleveland Guardians as a full-time minor league hitting coach, primarily working at the Arizona Complex. He developed rookie-level players, international signees making their U.S. debuts, and newly drafted prospects, while also assisting at the High-A, Double-A and Triple-A levels later in the season. During his time with Cleveland nine hitters made their Major League debut within a calendar year- a franchise high mark.

Linahan began his professional coaching career with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. In 2020, he served as a minor league player development coach at the Dodgers’ Arizona complex before moving to Double-A Tulsa in 2021. There, he assisted with daily hitting and pitching operations, game planning, and practice design. Sixteen players he worked with during that season have since contributed at the MLB level across the league.

Across his professional coaching career, Linahan has been part of organizations that have produced three MLB Division Championships from 2021-2024. Thus far in Linahan’s career he has coached players with the following honors:

- 6 World Series Champions
- 24 First Round Draft Picks
- 14 All-Stars
- 6 Gold Glove Winners
- 4 Silver Sluggers
- 2 Platinum Glove Winners
- 1 Rookie of the Year
- 1 Minor League Player of the Year

Before entering professional baseball, Linahan was the Director of Player Development at Abilene Christian University during the 2019 season and through the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign.

A former collegiate player, Linahan completed his career at Hardin-Simmons University, where he graduated in 2019. He also played at Southwestern Oklahoma State during the 2017 season and began his college career at Frank Phillips Junior College.

A native of Argyle, Texas, Linahan is married to his wife, Kori.
