Zach Shaver

Zach Shaver enters his fourth year as an assistant coach at Texas State, primarily working with setters and right-side hitters, court management, recruiting, travel and community service.

Before coming to San Marcos, Shaver was at California State University-Chico, where he was both an assistant coach and interim head coach during the 2000 season. He also served as the men's and women's club coach from 1998-2001.

Shaver led the women's club team at Chico State to the 2002 NIRSA National Championships and led the men's club team to back-to-back ninth-place finishes at the NIRSA Championships in 2000 and 2001.

Shaver was a setter on the men's team before coaching at Chico State and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Chico in 2002.

Prior to working at Chico State, he was the head coach at Orland (Calif.) High School from 1997-2000 and Biggs (Calif.) High School from 1995-1997.

Zach resides in San Marcos with his wife Sandra and one-year-old-daughter Nicole, born June 16, 2004 in New Braunfels.
