Joined Coach Brooks Staff at the start of the 2023-24 season as a Graduate Assistant Coach, after playing collegiate tennis at Alcorn State University.

In his first season as a graduate assistant, Fernandez helped coach the Bobcats to their most successful season since 2011 (11-8). He played a big part in coaching singles on courts 5 and 6 during the season, as well as doubles on court 3. Under Fernandez the Bobcats were 11-7 on court 5 during singles play and 9-8 on court six.
