Katie Paganelli

Katie Paganelli enters her third season as part of the Bobcat basketball staff as an assistant coach. She had served as a graduate assistant/director of basketball operations in 2010-11.

In her first two seasons as a full-time assistant, Paganelli worked primarily with the guards, helping develop Diamond Ford into one of the premier scorers in the country. Ford finished the year as the leading scorer in the Southland Conference and the 31st leading scorer nationally. Diamond received First-Team All-Southland Conference honors following the year.

Along with leading the conference in scoring, Ford became the 13th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000 career-point mark at Texas State, ending the year with 1,262 points. That mark is good for eighth all-time in school history.

Prior to Texas State, Paganelli was a four-year starter at Saint Louis University. A native of Cincinnati, she served as team captain for the Billikens in 2009-10 and ended her career ranked second in career three-point field goals made with 168 and 10th among the career scoring leaders with 1,244 points at Saint Louis. She also ranked seventh among the school’s career leaders with 144 steals. In 2009-10, Paganelli averaged 11.3 points and led the Billikens with 56 treys and 44 steals while serving as a team captain.

In the summer of 2011, Paganelli was featured in a documentary entitled The Gray Seasons chronicling her career at Saint Louis along with the other players that were brought in as part of her recruiting class. The film was shown at the San Antonio Film Festival, and had other showings around the country.

Paganelli received her bachelor’s degree in communications from Saint Louis in 2010. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in exercise and sport science.
