Jericka Jenkins will be in her sixth season as an assistant coach at Texas State entering the 2025-26 campaign after spending two seasons (2018-19, 2019-20) as a graduate assistant and video coordinator for the team. She earned the title of recruiting coordinator following the 2022-23 conference championship season.
Jenkins, who has won a conference championship as both a student-athlete and coach, was instrumental in the development of All-Sun Belt performer point guard Kennedy Taylor, who is the Sun Belt's and Texas State's all-time career assists record holder. Taylor set the two records in 2022-23, a year in which she was named All-Sun Belt Second Team.
Led by Taylor, Jenkins and the Bobcats won a share of the 2022-23 Sun Belt regular season championship, reached the Sun Belt tournament title game, and made an appearance in the WNIT. Texas State finished the season tops in the Sun Belt in field goal shooting and three-point shooting while also finished second in assists and first in assist-to-turnover ratio.
During a 2021-22 season that saw Taylor earn All-Sun Belt Second Team honors, Jenkins helped work with Taylor's offensive game that ultimately resulted in the 5-foot-3 point guard becoming the 21st student-athlete in Texas State women's basketball history to score 1,000-or-more career points. Jenkins has also worked with breakout guard Sierra Dickson, who increased her minutes per game average by over 20 from her freshman to sophomore season.
As the graduate assistant and video coordinator, Jenkins managed and executed all video projects, assisted in scouting and team preparation for each game and was a vital piece in the day-to-day operations of the women's basketball program.
During the 2019-20 season, Jenkins helped coach Brooke Holle as the senior guard became the 19th member of the program's 1,000-career point club.
The 2018-19 season, the first with Jenkins on staff, guard Toshua Leavitt was named First Team All-Sun Belt Conference after a record-breaking season saw her top both the school and conference marks for career made 3-point field goals (363). Leavitt also collected CollegeSportsMadness.com National Mid-Major Player of the Week on Jan. 17 following a career-high 35-point effort at Georgia State.
Prior to Texas State, Jenkins served as an assistant coach for Ranger College (TX). Her primary duties included recruiting, guard development, academic achievement and strength and conditioning.
As a student-athlete, Jenkins started all four seasons for the Hampton Lady Pirates and was twice named a First Team All-MEAC performer. Jenkins earned Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America honors following the 2010-11 campaign and was named Hampton University Female Student-Athlete of the Year after each of her final two seasons as a Lady Pirate.
In her time at Hampton, she helped the Lady Pirates win three conference championships.
In May 2020, Jenkins graduated from Texas State University with a Master's degree in Exercise Sports Science. In May 2012, Jenkins graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Science in criminology/criminal justice.
